In early 2009, The Snyder Litigation Team won approximately $150 million dollars in a record verdict in Baltimore County against the worlds largest corporation, Exxon Mobil after a 5 1/2 month trial. This verdict was the largest verdict in Maryland in 2009 and one of the largest verdicts in Maryland history. The Snyder Litigation Team is also responsible for another one of the other largest Verdicts in Maryland history: a $276 million dollar verdict in 2002 against First Union Bank (now Wachovia).
In the Exxon case, the firm represented 88 families consisting of over 300 individuals in a case stemming from a gas leak at a local gas station that went undetected for over a month. Drinking wells on nearby properties were contaminated with MTBE and other gasoline constituents that devastated the lives of these individuals and their families. Properties were forever contaminated with carcinogenic chemicals and their values plummeted as a result. Although this case is currently on appeal, the Snyder Litigation Team is extremely proud to have represented all of these clients in this trial and continues to fight for them throughout the appeal process.
