A trip to the gynecologist can be stressful enough for a girl without having to worry about the motives of the doctor performing the exam. Dr. Nikita Levy, suspected of filming his unwitting patients at Johns Hopkins, was facing some serious charges after a coworker blew the whistle on his activities, leading to his dismissal at the facility. Johns Hopkins began investigating the 54-year-old doctor at the beginning of February after hearing the coworker’s allegation. After Levy’s dismissal, Johns Hopkins notified the police.
Currently, investigators are uncertain if the images and video recorded by Levy were for personal use or for distribution, and with 20 years of practice, investigators have a lot to sift through from the doctor who was described as “eager” to see young patients. Since the initial allegations, hundreds of former patients have come forward, fearing they may have also been victims of the doctor. It is unknown how long Levy had been recording his victims through a camera in his pen, and questioning Levy is no longer an option as the doctor was found dead in his home, apparently after taking his own life. Investigators are now faced with the task of searching through several hard drives and servers for further information of Levy’s alleged crimes.
As the investigation continues, civil suits are expected to rise dramatically in response. If you or someone you know may have been a victim of Levy, please contact The Snyder Litigation Team immediately as you may be eligible for compensation.
